12.26 gram crusted slice of NWA 16087 Howardite Achondrite meteorite recovered in Northwest Africa and purchased from a Moroccan dealer then classified in September, 2023. This fresh recovery is a Howardite in the HED group of meteorites stemming from the asteroid 4 Vesta. The pictured specimen has remnant black crust with wide areas of exposed matrix and measures approximately 55mm x 43mm x 3mm. HED meteorites range in age from 4.4-4.5 billion years ago and is determined to be ejection debris from an impact event on the asteroid body.. The NWA 16087 is mentioned in the "METEORITICAL BULLETIN" #112 (2023). A display case is included in your purchase.
